Growing Beyond Self-Rejection

One of the greatest dangers in the spiritual life is self-rejection.

When we say, "If people really knew me, they wouldn't love me," we choose the road toward darkness.

Often we are made to believe that self-deprecation is a virtue, called humility.

But humility is in reality the opposite of self-deprecation.

It is the grateful recognition that we are precious in God's eyes and that all we are is pure gift.

To grow beyond self-rejection we must have the courage to listen to the voice calling us God's beloved sons and daughters, and the determination always to live our lives according to this truth.

자기부정을 넘어서 자라가기

영적 삶에 가장 거대한 위험중 하나는 자기부정이다.

우리가 “만일 사람들이 나를 진실로 안다면, 그들은 나를 사랑하지 않을거야”라고 말할때, 우리는 어둠으로 가는 길을 선택하게 된다.

자주 우리는 자기부정은 미덕이라는 것으로 믿게 만드는 것을 겸손이라 불렀다.

그러나, 겸손은 자기부정의 반대편에 서 있는 것이다.

우리모두는 순수한 선물이고 하나님의 눈에 존귀한 자가는 인식은 감사의 인식이다.

자기부정을 넘어서 자라기 위해 우리는 하나님의 사랑받는 아들이요 딸들이라는 우리를 부르는 음성을 들을 수 있는 용기를 가져야만 한다. 그리고, 그 결정은 항상 우리로 이 진리를 따라 우리의 삶을 살게하기 위한 것이다.
