Reading Scripture

If the Revelation is masterful in getting us involved in a living response to scripture, it is also unavoidable in its claim that scripture is God's word to us, not human words about God. Reading scripture as if it were the writings of various persons throughout history giving their ideas or experiences of God, is perhaps the commonest mistake that is made in reading scripture. And the deadliest.

God means what he says. What he says goes. His powerful

Word is sharp as a surgeon's scalpel, cutting through

everything, whether doubt or defense, laying us open to listen

and obey.

                                  성경을 읽는 것

만일 계시록이 성경에 살아있는 반응을 깊게 하도록 우리 안에 주인 되게 하려면, 이것은 또한 성경이 하나님에 대한 인간의 말이 아니라, 하나님의 말씀으로 우리에게 요구하는 것이 불가피해야 한다. 마치 이것이 하나님의 경험이나 그들의 아이디어를 제공하는 역사전반의 다양한 사람들의 글로서 성경이 읽혀진다면, 아마도 성경을 읽는데 엄청난 실수를 하는 것이다. 참으로 치명적인 것이다.

하나님은 그가 말씀하신 것이다. 그가 말하실 때, 그의 힘 있는 말씀은 외과용 메스 처럼 날카롭고, 모든 것을 관통해 잘라내는데, 의심이나 방어 없이 우리를 듣고 순종하도록 놓아준다. 히브리서 4:12
