The Voice in the Garden of Solitude

Solitude is the garden for our heart, which yearn for love. It is the place where our aloneness can bear fruit. It is the home for our restless bodies and anxious minds. Solitude, whether it is connected with physical space or not, is essential for our spiritual lives. It is not an easy place to be, since we are so insecure and fearful that we are easily distracted by whatever promises immediate satisfaction.

Solitude is not immediately satisfying, because in solitude we meet our demons, or additions, our feelings of lust and anger, and our immense need for recognition and approval. But if we do not run away, we will meet there also the One who says, "Do not be afraid. I am with you, and I will guide you through the valley of darkness."

Let's keep returning to our solitude.

# distracted - unable to pay attention to sb/sth because you are worried or thinking about sth else 빗나가다. 마음이 산란하다

# lust - very strong sexual desire, especially when love is not involved 욕망 정욕

# approval - the feeling that sb/sth is good or acceptable 찬성, 승인

고독의 정원 안의 목소리

고독은 우리 마음의 정원이다. 이것은 사랑을 향한 동경이다. 우리의 외로움이 열매를 맺는 장소이다. 우리의 쉼 없는 몸과 걱정하는 마음을 위한 집이다. 고독, 이것이 육체적 공간과 연결되든지 아니든지 우리 영적 삶을 위한 필수요소이다. 이것은 쉬운 장소가 아니다. 왜냐하면 우리는 너무 불안정하고 즉시 만족을 약속하는 것에 의해 쉽게 마음이 산란해지는 두려움이 있기 때문이다.

고독은 즉시 만족되지 않는다. 왜냐하면 고독안에서 우리는 우리의 악령을 만나거나 더해지거나, 우리의 욕정과 분노의 느낌 그리고 인식과 승인의 위해 극도로 많은 것을 만난다. 그러나 만일 우리는 도망하지 않는다면 우리는 거기서 “두려워말아라. 내가 너와 함께한다. 나는 어둠의 골짜기를 통해 너를 인도할 것이다.”고 말하는 한 음성을 또 듣게 될 것이다
