The hidden resurrection

The resurrection of Jesus was a hidden event. Jesus didn't rise from the grave to baffle his opponents, to make a victory statement, or to prove to those who crucified him that he was right after all. Jesus rose as a sign to those who loved him and followed him that God's divine love is stronger than death. To the women and men who committed themselves to him, he revealed that his mission had been fulfilled. To those who shared task to call all people into the new life with him.

The world didn't take notice. Only those whom he called by name, with whom he broke bread, and to whom he spoke words of peace were aware of what happened. Still, it was this hidden event that freed humanity from the shackles of death.

숨겨진 부활

예수님의 부활은 숨겨진 사건이다. 예수님은 무덤으로부터 그의 적수들을 당황케 하고자 일어나거나, 승리의 진술을 만드시거나, 그가 모든 것 뒤에 옳다고 그분을 십자가에 못박은 사람들에게 증거하기 위한 것이 아니었다. 예수님은 징조로서 일어나셨는데 그를 사랑하는 자들과 그를 따르는 자들로 하나님의 신성의 사랑이 죽음보다 강함을 증명하고자 일어나셨다.

그들 스스로를 그분께 헌신한 여자들과 남자들에게, 그는 그의 사명이 성취되는 것을 보이셨다. 모든 사람이 그와 함께 새생명으로 부름받는 일을 나누는 사람들에게 말이다.

세상은 주목하는 일이 아니었다. 단지 그가 이름을 부르는 자들, 함께 빵을 떼시고, 평화의 말로 생겨진 일을 알아차리는 이들에게 대한 것이다. 이것은 숨겨진 사건으로 죽음으로 족쇄로 부터 인류를 자유케하는 것이었다.
