Be Yourself

Often we want to be somewhere other than where we are, or even to be someone other than who we are. We tend to compare ourselves constantly with others and wonder why we are not as rich, as intelligent, as simple, as generous, or as saintly as they are. Such comparisons make us feel guilty, ashamed, or jealous. It is very important to realize that our vocation is hidden in where we are and who we are. We are unique human beings, each with a call to realize in life what nobody else can, and to realize in the concrete context of the here and now.

We will never find our vocations by trying to figure out whether we are better or worse than others. We are good enough to do what we are called to do. Be yourself!

*Vocation - a type of work or way of life that you believe is especially suitable for you

천직, 사명감

너 자신이 되라!

자주 우리는 우리가 있는 곳보다 다른 곳을 원하거나 심지어 우리 자신보다 다른 누군가가 되기를 원한다. 우리는 다른 사람들과 끊임없이 우리를 비교하려 하고 또 염려한다. 왜 우리는 부나 똑똑함이나 간결함이나 관대함이나 혹은 그들만큼이나 성인답지 않은지에 대해서 말이다. 그러한 경쟁은 우리로 죄의식과 부끄러움과 질투를 느끼게 만든다. 우리의 사명이 우리가 있는 곳이나 우리자신 안에 숨겨져 있다고 깨닫는 것이 매우 중요한 것이다. 우리는 동일한 인간존재이다. 누구나 할 수 있는 삶에서 깨닫는 각자의 부르심에서 그리고 지금여기의 구체적인 상황 안에서 깨닫게 되는 것이다.

우리는 우리의 사명을 우리가 다른 사람들보다 더 낫거나 못하다는 것에 대해 손가락을 시도하는 것으로는 결단코 발견할 수 없다. 우리는 우리가 할수 있다는 것 이상을 충분히 잘 할 수 있다. 너 자신이 되어라!
